Clinton Library
The Clinton School Library is a resource center that serves more than 1,100 students in grades PreK-8. We offer a selection of fiction and non-fiction books and electronic resources, as well as computers and instruction to help students to conduct research, complete technology-based projects, develop digital literacy skills, and become responsible web users.
All classes visit the library regularly to check out books of their choosing and get to know what the library has to offer. The library media teacher, Ms. Mernick, also works directly with Clinton teachers to plan lessons and projects that combine their classroom instruction and activities with research and other information literacy skills learned in the library.
Library Mission Statement:
Clinton Library is a dynamic learning space dedicated to collaborative teaching that supports and enhances classroom learning, aligns to learning standards, and promotes literacy and a love of reading.
Library Vision Statement:
The Clinton Library inspires students to grow into lifelong readers and learners who are motivated to find, understand, and use information and technology to pursue their interests and reach their highest potential.

About Ms. Mernick
As the library teacher at Clinton, Ms. Mernick loves getting to work with students across all grade levels who have varied interests and reading tastes. She considers herself so lucky to see Clinton students grow every year as readers and as people. Since starting in 2012, she has seen the library as a place where student needs and interests are the primary focus, both in instruction and the books and resources offered. She strives to help all students grow into lifelong learners who are motivated to find, understand, and use information and technology to reach their highest potential.
Ms. Mernick earned her master’s degree in library and information science and her teaching certification as a library media specialist from Dominican University in 2012. She also has an undergraduate degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Before teaching, she spent seven years working in marketing and communications for professional services firms. This helped her to develop strong writing, research, and technology skills, as well as a desire to pass these essential skills and her love of reading on to the next generation.
Some of Ms. Mernick's favorite books include: Ada Twist, Scientist by Andrea Beatty, The Good Egg by Jory John, and anything by Mo Willems for the primary grades; Wonder by R.J. Palacio, Amina's Voice by Hena Khan, and Rick Riordan's Heroes of Olympus series for the intermediate grades; and It Wasn't Me by Dana Alison Levy, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, and Marissa Meyer's Cinder series for middle school grades. Her favorite genres are fantasy, historical fiction, silly stories, and narrative non-fiction. Come talk to her any time about your favorites!
